Terms of Service

These terms cover your use of Opened by Hand, a handwritten-mail service run by Smartify AI ("we", "us"). By ordering, subscribing or using the service, you agree to them.

1. The service

We address envelopes (and, when ordered, write notes or cards) with a machine holding a real pen, insert your materials, add a First-Class stamp, and hand the pieces to the U.S. Postal Service.

2. Plans and pricing

• Monthly plans are prepaid: 250 envelopes for $475 a month, 500 envelopes for $900 a month, 1,000 envelopes for $1,750 a month. Volumes of 2,500+ a month are quoted.
• Unused envelopes do not roll over. Each month's envelopes must be used in that billing month; unused ones expire and are not refunded.
• Plans renew each month until you cancel. Cancel any time before your next billing date to stop the next charge.
• A handwritten card instead of an insert costs $1.00 more per piece. Printing an insert for you is quoted per job.
• The founding pilot (1,000 envelopes at $1.70 each) is a one-time order for the first 10 customers.
• Prices include First-Class postage at the current USPS rate. If USPS raises postage, we may adjust prices with notice.

3. Your content and lists

• You are responsible for your message, your inserts and your mailing list, and for having the right to use them.
• Your content must be lawful and must follow the rules for your industry (for example, real estate, mortgage, insurance and fundraising advertising rules). We may refuse content we believe is unlawful, deceptive, hateful or harassing.
• You will honor requests from recipients who ask not to be contacted.

4. Samples, proofs and timing

When a job includes a sample, we start the full run after you approve it. Turnaround times are estimates. Once mail is handed to USPS, delivery timing and loss are outside our control.

5. Results

Handwriting gets attention; it does not guarantee a response. Any calculator, example or estimate on our site is illustrative only.

6. Integrations and early access

Features marked "early access" (including the API and the Claude, ChatGPT, Clay, Instantly and CRM connections) are provided as-is and may change.

7. Refunds

If a piece is wrong because of our error, we will rewrite and resend it at no charge. Prepaid plan fees for envelopes not used in a billing month are not refunded.

8. Limits of liability

To the extent the law allows, our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the month before the claim, and we are not liable for indirect or lost-profit damages.

9. General

These terms are governed by the laws of Arizona. We may update them; the date at the top shows the latest version, and continued use means you accept the update.
